 MALA'S Metro Area Reader's Round Table Committee has chosen The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins as the 2012 Community Wide Reading Selection!!

The Hunger GamesThe Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins has been selected.  This is the first entry into Suzanne collins' futuristic, fast paced, science-fiction young adult series that includes Catching Fire and Mocking Jay.  There will be recommeded read-alikes, for this book in areas of adult fiction, adult non-fiction, YA Fiction, YA non-fiction and children's books.  This year, the committee has selected their book following themes.  These will be reflected in the programming and read-alike selections.

Iowa and Illinois Libraries Joining MALA/KCMLIN Get Connected Courier Delivery Service - now connecting to 587 libraries in 5 states!!!

The Mid-America Library Alliance/Kansas City Metropolitan Library & Information Network is excited to announce the addition of 22 libraries in Iowa and Illinois to the MALA/KCMLIN Get Connected Courier Delivery service effective January 1, 2012.  A warm welcome to our new libraries


IMLS LogoMALA/KCMLIN receives LSTA Statewide Grant for Show Me The World Get Connected Courier Delivery Service

The Mid-America Library Alliance/Kansas City Metropolitan Library & Information Network has received a Statewide LSTA Grant for the Show Me the World Get Connected Courier Delivery service for FY 2011-2012. This grant will again allow for all state funded Missouri Public Libraries to receive two day per week courier delivery service. This service connects to libraries in Missouri, Kansas and Colorado.


The Get Connected Show Me The World Courier Delivery service is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
