Workshop Description:
|
This workshop will give participants an overview of Libstats, a simple, free, open-source, Web-based system for tracking library statistics and questions. Facilitators will engage the audience by discussing the need for reference transaction standards and sharing what are reasonable expectations when it comes to open source software programs for libraries. Following this, the presenters will focus on how and why K-State chose to use Libstats and then share additional uses for the reference transaction data such as for library instruction, staff continuing education, and effective management decision making. Participants will explore the administrative side of Libstats and its customizable field settings as well as learn how to run reports. This online tool has a lot of potential and can work for multiple types and sizes of libraries and service points. |
