Workshop Name: Programs & Activities for School Age Children
Contact Hours: 6 or customizable
Workshop Instructor(s): Susan Wray

Workshop Description:

Many programs for school age children are held after school, on Saturdays and vacation weeks for children age 6-11.

Librarians may share longer stories, activities, crafts and snacks on a variety of themes.

Children might explore a science concept, experience the books of a certain author or illustrator, investigate another culture or enjoy classic read aloud stories.

In this workshop we will provide lessons and recommendations on how to make youth programming work, train library staff, and foster youth participation.

We will also discuss what types of programs work and don't work.  Bring your own example to share - good or bad.

Who Should Attend: Library Staff; Children's Library Staff; Paraprofessionals
