Workshop Description:

Do you need some fresh ideas to help resolve library workplace issues?

This course, authored by noted library and organization consultant Pat Wagner, is based on proven theories of communication. In just an hour or two, this course will give you some fresh perspective on strengthening communication weaknesses in your library, along with some practical tools to tackle specific co-worker problems you may be worrying about today.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the different communication techniques of fellow worker
  • Evaluate when a problem is a personal issue, versus a personnel issue
  • Discover ways to realistically cope with difficult situations
  • Criticize one another effectively, in a creative and positive atmosphere
  • Disagree and still get along
  • Realize that different ideas often lead to positive outcome, even if we don't see it at the time
  • Deal with situations where not everyone is doing his/her job
  • Reduce stress among busy co-workers
  • Succeed in building valuable new relationships with difficult co-workers

The course addresses these issues and more in a web-based course designed to take about 1 1/2 hours to complete. It contains multimedia elements, external links, pre- and post-tests, and course evaluation modules
