Full time faculty position reporting to the Dean of Information Services

Responsibilities:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supporting faculty, staff and students in the use of online databases and electronic books by:
    1. Responding to faculty needs for in-class presentations concerning online databases and electronic books.
    2. Providing support to students, faculty and staff on a walk-in basis in the use and access of online databases and electronic books.
  2. Maintaining current knowledge in the field of online databases and electronic books.
  3. Providing course-specific library instruction.
  4. Assessing the effectiveness of library instruction programs and services.
  5. Providing bibliographic instruction in a formal classroom setting and on a one-to-one basis.
  6. Selection and disposal of materials in assigned areas.
  7. Indexing and inputting mortuary journals for The Morgue.

CONSULTING TASKS

  1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Information Services.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervising all print and non-print circulation activities, such as books, periodicals, reserve materials, and media materials.
  2. Supervising circulation desk staff and student workers.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must possess a strong public service orientation.
  2. Enthusiasm for classroom teaching.
  3. Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
  4. Knowledge of word processing software preferred.
  5. Must be able to work under the pressure of deadlines.
  6. Must display the ability to adjust and work with individuals with varying backgrounds and abilities.
  7. Must be able to work well with students, faculty, staff, administration and the general public.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. Master's Degree in Library Science required.
  2. Minimum of one year library experience preferred.
