Please join us for READ from the START Discussion Leader Training
* Are you passionate about books and stories?
* Do you enjoy working with small groups of parents/caregivers in a discussion group setting?
* Would you love to encourage parents to read to their young children?
Read from the START (RFTS)programs are facilitated by certified volunteer RFTS Discussion leaders. Our Discussion Leaders include storytellers, teachers, social workers, librarians, community volunteers, and journalists, just to name a few! Each brings his/her own special gifts and talents to READ from the START programs.
The Missouri Humanities council will conduct this day long training. Participants will learn the "nuts and bolts" of leading a READ from the START program. There is no charge for attending this training. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
READ from the START is the Missouri Humanities Council's family reading program. Designed for parents of children birth to five years old, RFTS encourages parents to read and talk about books with their young children. Participants at a RFTS program read and discuss the same books that they will take home to their children. Each family receives a set of seven high quality books to keep.
