Time: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM CST

Description:
There are many things to love about reading. Learn what appeals to readers of some of the most popular genres in literature today and what some of the specific characteristics of those genres are. Become familiar with benchmark authors and the up and coming writers of Romance, Fantasy, Horror and others.
Instructor:
Kaite Stover is the Head of Readers' Services for Kansas City Public Library. She co-authors the "He Reads, She Reads" column in Booklist with David Wright, is a contributing writer for NoveList and serves on YALSA's Alex Awards Committee.
Alicia Ahlvers received her MLS from Emporia State University and is a Branch Manager for the Kansas City Public Library. She will discuss Romance books.
Sheryl Nance-Durst is the Adult Services Librarian, Kansas City Kansas Public Library. She will discuss the Fantasy Genre.
Deb Bryant - Topeka Shawnee County Public Library - Inspiritional Fiction.
Kelly Fann will discuss the Horror Genre. She is currently a student at Emporia State University pursuing her Master's of Library and Information Science degree. Upon completion of her Master's, she intends to pursue her PhD, also in Library and Information Science. Her undergraduate degree was acquired at the University of Kansas in English Literature. In her spare time, she typically reads three to four books simultaneously; an audiobook in the car, one on her ipod, a book to read for pleasure at home, one at work, and the occasional textbook thrown in the mix. While she attempts to read a wide variety of genres, her love of horror continues to dominate her bookshelf as it has done so since the first time she read IT by Stephen King in the 5th grade.
