The Mid-America Library Alliance/Kansas City Metropolitan Library & Information Network provides a very unique service for libraries in Missouri and Kansas. Membership in the Mid-America Library Alliance/KCMLIN provides you with the opportunity to provide access to millions of books from 565 library systems in Missouri, Kansas and Colorado to your patrons. We are also in the process of expansion to Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Tennessee and Arkansas.
Delivery is fast, efficient and without a doubt, will save your library money while providing access to millions of books for your patrons.
WHAT PATRONS SAY
Not every library can afford or has the space to house every subject matter. Problem solved. Membership in the Mid-America Library Alliance/KCMLIN provides you with access to library collections of 565 library systems. Patrons who have specific subject needs, popular audio books and DVD’s, student reference materials and medical information are now all available to your patrons and delivered to your library.
FAST
The Mid-America Library Alliance/KCMLIN Get Connected Courier Delivery Service provides 2-3 day delivery turn-around of library materials.
EFFICIENT
The Mid-America Library Alliance/KCMLIN’S Get Connected Special Projects Coordinator assists libraries in working together in a reciprocal manner. Training and supplies are provided for all members. Professional couriers assure accurate and smooth delivery of items.
SAVE MONEY
The Mid-America Library Alliance/KCMLIN Get Connected libraries save money. All materials are supplied to package your items in protective nylon bags. Libraries can choose between one and five day per week delivery. This option allows libraries to utilize services that work best for them. Libraries on the three-state network have reported massive savings in their postage budget and the staff time required for interlibrary loan.
INCREASE COLLECTIONS
In 2009 the Mid-America Library Alliance/KCMLIN Get Connected joined forces with CLIC representing the libraries in Colorado. This service is called COKAMO and it seamlessly connects the three states. Now libraries in Missouri and Kansas can lend to and borrow from over 400 libraries in Colorado and send the items on the Get Connected Courier at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE!!
COST
Libraries can receive courier delivery service at a fraction of the cost of mailing items through the Post Office or other mailing services.
Get Connected members are charged a flat monthly rate based on the number of days per week they wish to receive service. Libraries can participate from one day per week to five days per week.
All supplies (nylon courier delivery bags and tubs) and training are supplied. An online labeling system is used for ease and accuracy.
